The Analysis of Renal Scintigraphic Finding Correlated Renogram with Quantitative Study

Abstract
Renal scintigraphy is a useful modality for the information of anatomical and functional evaluation in the diagnosis of genitourinary disease.
The author reviewed renal scintigraphic findings in the 50 patients confirmed G-U tract disease, who visited to our department from Jan. 1986 to Oct. 1989. We analysed total 75 cases of the diseased lesion which are composed of 29 cases of
inflammatory
lesions, 23 cases of obstructive lesion, 14 cases of chronic renal failure and 9 cases of renovascular hypertension (RVH).
On the reviewed scintigraphic findings, we correlated renogram with computer assisted quantitative study for the purpose of differential diagnosis.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1) The obstructive lesions showed typical obstructive pattern renogram with lack of excretory phase and continuous accumulation. But GFR and ERPF relatively less decreased in quantitative study.
2) CRF mostly involved both kidneys, and showed asymmetricities in both ERPF changes. Also both GFR and ERPF severely decreased which is characteristic finding.
3) Inflammatory and RVH were difficult to differential diagnosis by the quantitative study. On renogram, inflammation showed non-specific pattern, however RVH showed typical finding. With prolonged transit time and delayed excretion, which is
useful
point of view for differentiation.
4) The use of combination of multiple modalities in renal scintigraphic study(such as renogram, quantitative study, reno-cortical scan and adjunctive uses of diuretics, ACEI) can be increased sensitivities and specificity for the differential
diagnosis
of genitourinary disease.
